I was lucky enough to come across Will Taylor's blog Bright Bazaar through my blogging friend Tabara, which is a colour filled collection of amazing images and useful advice for the colour shy and colour fans alike. As an expansion of his blog, Taylor released his debut book 'Bright Bazaar - Embracing Colour For Make-You-Smile Style' and what a book it is. I'm a huge fan of colour but have usually had to stick to neutral walls and accent accessories - which is quite normal when you're renting somewhere.
Featuring images from Taylor's actual home, it's clear to see this author practises what he preaches. The front cover photograph is from his front room, whilst most of the following pages feature Taylor's photography he's captured on his travels around the globe. Here's what he writes in his opening paragraph.
"Colour is at the heart of my life; it's the foil that brings light and shade, depth and interest to my everyday experiences. Whether it's the cheerful blue and yellow boxes I saw on a trip to Stockholm, or the graphic contrast of New York City's yellow taxicabs against the city's otherwise monochromatic palette of skyscrapers and sidewalks, it's the colour in these moments that always sits at the heart of my memories and inspires my decorating palettes. It's fair to say I've always been a palette addict. Are you?"
In answer to Will's question, yes I am. A complete palette addict. Although you wouldn't really guess with my primarily-black wardrobe, I do appreciate a bold turquoise front door or a splash of citrus tones on a black sofa in terms of interiors.
I would definitely recommend this feel-good book if you're looking to add some colour into your life - this is definitely joining my pile of coffee table worthy books. Available from Amazon for £18.80 (but you could always get it from the market place for a purse friendly £13.38 like I did.
