HOW TO CREATE A NEW YORK STYLE LOFT APARTMENT

HOW TO CREATE A NEW YORK STYLE LOFT APARTMENT

I've been obsessing over New York style loft apartments recently. And with me not moving to New York any time soon, I've been seeing what it would be like to create my own New York inspired loft apartment.
Imagine, high ceilings, super large windows and raw wooden floors - all with eclectic style mish-mashed furniture. I have actually seen a flat in Leeds which is pretty much like the room below - a huge window taking up one wall and exposed brickwork, which I love.

My style in terms of interiors has changed so much in the last three years. I was always that girl who wanted everything matching. From cushions to paint to rugs, it all had to co-ordinate with each other. I remember my first flat, three years ago, was pink and lime green everything. All from Next and at the time I loved it but now I love the odd statement piece. Like the stool I became obsessed with in TK Maxx last weekend. It's orange and wouldn't go with anything I owned but I still loved it anyway.

I suppose you have to have the kind of space for this style of décor, but with wooden floors (like these I spotted over at Oak Floors Online) and cool detailing like plants, a statement rug and industrial style lighting you could definitely achieve something of a similar nature.

Oh and before I forget (Erm, how could I?), I won first place in the Refresh Rather than Relocate competition which means I will receive £750 to kit out my house when I finally move *cough next month*. I literally couldn't be more excited to try and see if I can get some pieces for my imaginary New York loft.

What do you think to this type of interior? Something you’d love or something you’d stay away from? As always let me know what you think by commenting below.
