Having blemish prone and sensitive skin, it means I very rarely switch up my skin care routine. But after my recent Liz Earle facial, where a number of different masks were used to combat problem areas on my face, I decided to do a little research into various masks on the market right now.
I'm more budget beauty than high end, so when I spotted the new L'Oreal pure clay face masks featured on the gorgeous Megan Ellaby's Instagram, I took myself off to Boots, with my Points card in tow. I wanted to give all three a try, especially as I have combination skin, so first up we have the Pure Clay Glow Mask, which has a beaded texture and is designed to "illuminate tone by exfoliating the skins surface without drying it out".
With a blend of Koalin (a highly effective natural clay, known to absorb impurities and excess sebum), Montmorillonite (rich in minerals, a clay recognised for helping to eliminate imperfections), Ghassoul (a pure clay highly concentrated in minerals renowned to help clarify complexion.Instant and lasting, visible results) and red algae extracts (known for its brightening properties), I use this on my cheeks where a glow is needed so a girl doesn't have to fork out for Becca's Champagne Pop highlighter. Plus the exfoliating qualities make my cheeks feel like peaches.
Secondly, because I am victim of blackheads on my nose and spots cropping up now and again around my chin area (why are hormones still affecting me at nearly 32 years of age?!), I decided to use the Pure Clay Detox Face Mask on these areas.
Featuring charcoal, this mask is designed to draw out impurities and cleanse deep down into the pores. I think out of the three this has to be my favourite as I saw visible results pretty much straight away and could almost feel it working its magic getting the crap out.
And finally, the Pure Clay Purity Mask is perfect for my forehead, which is known to reflect sunlight into oncoming traffic when shine is at its peak on a hot day. Blended with eucalyptus extract, this mask is designed to give the skin a mattified finish by absorbing impurities and excess sebum, without drying the skin out. And that it does.
I absolutely love targeting my problem areas with different solutions, all of which dry at the same time and really tackle skin issues head on. I think what I loved most was the fact that each mask is £5 now on offer at Boots, so for £15 I managed to snag a pretty great facial, which will no double last weeks. Head over now to pick some up yourself and get your skin ready for the new season.
I love the Detox mask, I use it 2x weekly and my skin is so smooth afterwards. My skin always looks and feels better after!
