This week has taken me to Italy, Florence to be exact, to a menswear trade fair called Pitti Uomo. Basically, it's where some of the very best dressed men (and women) gather twice a year to see new collections from some of the biggest brands in the world.
For those who don't work in fashion, it's a very peculiar sight - lots of dapper gents, stood around in the grounds of the Fortezza da Basso all waiting for the street style photographers to snap their outfits, whilst pretending to be on their phones or engrossed in conversation. This is called "peacocking" and Pitti Uomo is renowned for it.
It's also a great way to spot potential trends for the following season - teaming neon with tailoring was one of the biggest trends to come from the show three seasons ago. There's still a definite hybrid of casual/formal, with key pieces being men's knitwear in statement patterns, distressed finishes, fur linings and finally, it seems the 70s is sticking around - unfortunately.
Anyway normal service will resume tomorrow - read, no more menswear for a while - but for now, take a look at the beauty that is Florence...

oh Florence. I miss my Gelateria La Carraia....best gelato in Italy. I would go back just for the cheesecake gelato :)
ReplyDeleteFlorence is probably one of my all time favourite cities in the world - aside from New York! xxx
