STYLING YOUR SIDEBOARD THREE DIFFERENT WAYS

My obsession with sideboards hasn't wavered and I know many of you feel exactly the same so this weekend I spent some time putting together three ways you can style your own. I've had this sideboard for a couple of months now and it's hard to believe it's from Argos, because the quality and design are spot on. 

Now, although I love Scandinavian style, my personal style is way more eclectic. OK, cluttered. I found myself adding more bits to this look and then taking them away, in the end using one amazing lamp from Homesense, this print which is from Sarah & Bendrix - plus the frame from The Range, my little copper lantern which I turned into a terrarium (you can check out how to make your own terrarium here), again from Homesense, and an amazing retro clock which I borrowed from my dad's clock collection. If you're close to Wetherby, Yorkshire, on a Saturday, make sure you pay a visit to the town hall as they have a fantastic antiques market on - where you'll find my dad and all his clocks - selling everything from amazing retro treasures to old war memorabilia and genuine Japanese kimonos.

I think the key to creating a cool Scandi feel to your home is keeping it minimal, without too much colour. Here I've chosen black, white and gold, with wood and hints of green. My favourite new home addition has to be this lamp, not only because I love brass but I just love to retro shape and the fact that it looks so unique. 

Next up we have a style which is way more my usual type - eclectic. When you walk around my house, you'll see such a mix of styles, it's kind of a mismatch of everything I've found and picked up along my way. 

To create this set-up I first decided to frame some wallpaper I saved from a photoshoot I did recently. I mean, how amazing is this. I would love to create a statement wall with this papaer, with hints of dark grey/blue, greens and flashes of pink. Again, this frame from The Range, while my little faux plants are Ikea specials. The gorgeous bowl I've popped one of my plants in is actually from Dot Com Gift Shop, which I've never shopped at before, but I'll definitely be using again. I mean, anything blue and white is going to capture my attention, but I'm looking forward to filling this Japanese bowl complete with a tiny Daisy print with lemons and limes for my bar cart when I have friends over. 

You might recognise my Rose & Grey champagne glasses and mini gold pineapple, but what I've also recently got from there is this totally kitsch, totally amazing ceramic perching parrot. Look at how well Polly sits next that wallpaper. It was meant to be no? I know this is kind of love/hate decoration but I'm firmly in the love category. 

If you scroll down, you'll also notice these beautiful rustic glazed tile coasters from Rigby & Mac which I got recently. These remind me of a William Morris print and really suit the blues and greens of my living room. The detail on them is amazing.

As well as throwing in my BHS arrow lamp and little ginger spice pots into the mix, I wanted to add my Nomad embroidered pouf from Bombay Duck and lime green cushion from Marks & Spencer to complete the eclectic style. 

Finally, we come to potentially my favourite style of the day, the feminine, girly style. Looking back, I might have put too many bits on here, and I forgot to add some candlesticks that I have saved for the occasion but overall, I'm happy with the outcome. 

First of all, the Indian teapot and glass decanter are both antiques, again from my dad, which usually sit on my bar cart, as does the bottle of very expensive champagne which I got for my 30th and I haven't had chance to open yet. 

The white lantern, which I love, was a gift from a friend and my green vase was from Ikea, filled with faux roses and peonies from Homesense. I know some people don't like faux flowers, but Homesense literally do the best fakes ones I've seen. 

My prints, again, are from Sarah & Bendrix and Minted, with the frames coming from...you guessed it, The Range. My little Buddha man and candle also came from The Range and you can pick up your own copy of Cupcakes and Cashmere At Home from Amazon.

                        

Rose & Grey came up trumps again with this beautiful porcelain feather, and of course, my polka dot tea set from Bombay Duck which you can see in full use here.
