One of the best things about
staying in a plush 5 star hotel, apart from the deep sunken mattress and
Egyptian cotton sheets, has to be the bathroom. Whether it features his and
hers sinks, the fluffy towel robes, or the array of beauty products on offer, I
like nothing better when I travel than to sink into a bubble bath and forget
the woes of the days. With the colder nights setting
in, meaning the appeal of a hot soak is greater than ever, I thought I’d put
together four tips on how you can create the feel of a luxury boutique hotel bathroom
in your own home, starting with...
Lighting
One big light in the middle of the room is hardly
relaxing right? Whether you’re remodelling your bathroom or looking to change
the feel of the room slightly, I’d definitely say consider spotlights with a
dimmer switch. Another thing I’d consider is mirror lighting – I especially
love Hollywood lighting like this wall mounted
LED mirror from Illuminated
Mirrors for that ultimate boudoir feel when carrying out your skin
care routine before bed, and with a dimmer switch included in this, you can
keep the atmosphere as relaxing as you need.
Storage
The beauty of a hotel bathroom is that you can’t see the
bottle of Cif hiding in the corner, or the mountains of toilet rolls you
usually have on stand at home. With that in mind, storage is key so invest in
either an under the sink cabinet if space allows, or add shelving to your
boiler cupboard so you can hide away all the products that aren’t beautiful. I’ve
even seen a great idea recently where tiled shelving is built into the bottom
of the bath – definitely a good space saver.
Statement Walls
In
boutique hotels especially, plain white walls are a thing of the past. It’s all
about the statement tile, eye catching wallpaper or paint choice. Add art work
to your bathroom wall, or consider an amazing tile design like the bathroom
above. It’s about creating a stylish sanctuary which has the same love and
attention paid to it as you do every other room in your house. You could even
had art work or framed pictures, as long as the bathroom is properly ventilated
and they’re obviously not right next to the shower.
Styling
Putting together pretty vignettes in the bathroom can create
such a stylish space. I love to display my most beautiful bath products,
perfumes and skin care must-haves and style them on trays around my bathroom.
Why not consider monogrammed towels I also like to add plants around the room
but make sure you check first plants that need low light requirements such as
aloe vera, bamboo, peace lily and ferns. Finally, chose the most stylish soap
dispenser, tooth brush holder and bath rack you can find. There’s no point
having a beautiful bathroom with your tooth brush stored in a grimy old glass.
Would you consider any of these point for your own bathroom? I love to idea of a statement wall of some kind. Let me know your thoughts.

As someone about half way through turning my bathroom from grim to 5* swanky, I totally love this post - though it is making me REALLY desperate for a long hot bath! Cannot wait until I have a functioning shower even, never mind bath! But it will be worth it when it's done, I'm certain! x

DeleteNice article ! According to me the main purpose of interior design in a hotel is to create a “home away from home” for guests, although ideally the environment is more stimulating than the one where they live!
