OK, so it might not be your first footwear choice when the weather is scortchio, but today I wanted to show you ten different ways you can style ankle boots this summer. Let's face it, here in the UK we seldom get a proper summer, so investing in shoes which can transition from one season to another is a much better way to part with your hard earned cash.
I wanted to show you how you can style yours from festival vibes to shopping when the air is a little chillier. The two looks above, including the gorgeous Lucy from Fashion Me Now, show two variations on the short dress/ankle boot combo. And although I love the floaty boho number to your left, I think Lucy kills it with her structured suede shift dress and polo neck. I'm allowing the polo neck because trust me, you never know when a downpour is right around the corner here.
Megan Ellaby, meanwhile, rocks this amazing ASOS ruffled dress (see similar) and baker boy hat, along with her stacked heeled ankle boot. I love how she ties the black together using her accessories - and it just goes to show how well darker shades can work for the summer months. The next look is from lifestyle blogger Anneli Bush - how amazing is this pink varsity inspired bomber jacket? I also love the shorter cut of the jeans with the raw edging to showcase the lighter ankle boots in this look.
I mean, how can I not love every single thing that Carrie from Wish Wish Wish wears? She's a dream, but I especially love this pink The Smiths jumper and black mini skirt, giving her boots a little edge. My latest Instagram crush Marianna Hewitt, meanwhile, retains a similar vibe with frayed grey denim, a simple white tee and leather jacket. Sometimes it's the simpler looks which work the best in my opinion.
Liv Purvis can you do no wrong girl? The gorgeous little thing has styled her boots with this ASOS red wrap midi (see similar) and a black fedora, which I love, love, love. Very British-festival. Where as Aimee Song, from Song of Style, has gone down a more relaxed LA route with her light tan boots, blue smock dress and open denim shirt. I love the pop of orange from her bag. Which do you prefer out of these two looks?
Up next we have a very Coachella-inspired moment, with studded blue boots teamed with an eclectic mix of band tee, khaki shorts and crushed velvet kimono. Blue boots weren't a consideration before, but I really like how they look with something like this (although let's face it, shorts that, well short, are never going to compliment my thick limbs). And finally we have a simple look of a dress more designed for the evening, worn with a casual black bomber and black ankle boots, meaning you can get much more wear out of your night time wardrobe that you may have originally thought.
So I'm hoping by now you're feeling a little inspired to maybe pick up some ankle boots of your own and style them up real nice for summer right? Well, look no further - I'm sticking with the ten theme and picked ten of my favourite from the high street - all budget friendly of course and look gorgeous. Some are more eclectic than others but I wanted to showcase a variety in case you were into more statement pieces. Let me know what you think to this look and if any of the below catch your eye.
