OCTOBER GOALS

As I mentioned in my Generation Peter Pan post on Tuesday, I've decided to set out monthly goals now instead of weekly ones. It was becoming too hard to think of good ones every Monday without repeating myself, so monthly ones not only give me a bit more scope to think of what I'd like to achieve, but also a longer timescale to achieve them in.

October is usually a great month for me. It starts with my birthday on the 4th and usually has two or three events that I've planned with friends and family. This month we've got the Amara Interior Blog Awards taking place on the 28th, various meals and nights out with friends and press days start at the end of of the month which is always great to head down to London and catch up with brands and PRs.

With that said, I'm hoping October continues in its tradition of being a great month and seen as it's the 1st today, what better time to kickstart some goals for the month ahead. Here goes...

Long, Overdue Body Overhaul

This isn't just a goal, this is something desperately needed. I can safely say that the past two years I have well and truly let myself go. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I go to Aldi in my dressing gown and Uggs, but I've put weight on, I very rarely get my hair cut and my skin is in need of some serious TLC. I just don't feel like me anymore. My confidence isn't the same as it once was and I the ironic thing is, when I do go to the gym and eat the right things I feel great - except I just don't do it. I prefer to sit and munch on crap, which in turn makes me feel crap, which in the long run makes me look crap. Crap, crap, crap. So it's back to Slimming World I go, it's back to the gym I go and I'm going to see in one month if I can shake things up and lose a little bit of this timber. I'll keep a log of everything I'm eating so you guys can see what Slimming World is like and I'm also going back to the classes once a week to get weighed, instead of doing it myself every day. In terms of my skin, I invested in some REN Skincare products last week and they are amazing (review coming Saturday morning). So I'm popping into Harvey Nichols at some point to have a consultation and see what daily products I could use on my combination skin. In a totally selfish way, October is going to be all about me.

Start My Vision Board

I'm obsessed with the Law of Attraction. I read and hear so much about getting back from the universe what you put out there - if you've ever read The Secret then you'll know what I mean. It's about the power of attraction, believing in what you want to attract it into your life. In The Secret, you are taught to believe you already have whatever it is you want in your life. If you want a change in your career, you have to believe you're already there. To create a vision board which you can look at every day, it's literally as easy as tearing pictures and words out of magazines which represent what it is you want. I don't want to divulge too much into what I'll be putting on mine but if you wanted to read more up on the power of attraction I wrote this post on it last year. You might think it's all rubbish. You might not. Each to their own.

Give My Bathroom a Makeover

It's not just my body that drastically needs a makeover, but my bathroom as well. Obviously because I'm renting I'll just be doing superficial things, but it definitely needs an injection of colour and some new towels etc. I'm thinking pink, coral and gold so it's off to Ikea I go when I've got a free weekend. I've been pinning some inspiration over on my Pinterest page if you want to check that out, and of course I'll document everything for the blog. I'm even thinking of doing a little video tour as making videos is something I'd love to try having a go at over the next year. I'm not a vlogger, because I really don't like myself on camera, but I'd like to make cleverly shot lifestyle videos every now and again - Kate La Vie is amazing at this, as it Lily Melrose.

Create More Interesting Content

I love nothing better than putting together really interesting blog content, but when time is sparse, it can be hard to find the time to sit down and write lengthy pieces, as well shoot great images and even think of the ideas in the first place. But I've started to get quite a long list of potential post ideas now, so I want to dedicate some of this month to just sitting at my desk and putting together some really useful and inspiring posts for you guys. I've decided 2016 is going to be the year of Apartment Number 4, so this month I want to start putting the wheels in motion for gaining a bigger audience.

There you have it. My goals for October. I'll do an update at the end of the month before I put together my November goals so you can see how I'm getting on with everything - I suspect the hardest goal will be my body overhaul but I'm positive I can make the changes I need. Hell, amma' put that on my vision board.

  1. Inspirational stuff! I'm just starting out as a blogger and your well thought out goals are so helpful and thought provoking :-) I love your blog but it's very reassuring to know an established blogger wants to better themselves each month too! Best of luck for October! Xx

  3. I love this post! Definitely great to have goals to spur you on. I've just done up our bathroom and a great tip would be to add some foliage to bring it to life. Our bathroom is all white so a beautiful bright pink orchid and matching bath mat really make it zing. Good luck with yours!
