HIGHLIGHTS OF #NYFW

With New York Fashion Week drawing to a close, I wanted to take a look at some of my favourite collections from the last five days. Although this hasn't been one of the best #NYFW's I've seen, there's been a typical influx of pretty pastels, delicate fabrics and great knee length options.

Carolina Herrera S/S 16

The first collection in my Top Five is Carolina Herrera, who presented a series of sugary pinks, fluffy ice whites and beautifully embellished maxi skirts and cropped tops. I'd love to see someone like Bella Thorne in some of these looks, especially with her gorgeous red locks against the pastel colour palette.

Badgley Mishka S/S 16

I've been a fan of Badgley Mishka for years now and love how each season, the design house presents so many award season options. From the metallic watercolour prints, to the soft pleated maxis, this collection was summer holiday personified.

Diane Von Furstenberg S/S 16

Always one to impress with her harem of supermodels strutting down the runway, DVF didn't disappoint this season. With Gigi, Karlie and Kendall all featuring, this was one show not to be missed. I love the 50s Hawaiian vibe, and I'm especially in love with this grey flannel trouser suit and blue printed halterneck. If flowers-in-hair come back into fashion, believe I'll be rocking that look.

Elie Tahari S/S 16

Moving away from the prettiness other designers seemed to concentrate on, Elie Tahari presented a collection of block monochrome pieces, with a distinct bohemian feel. How gorgeous is this black maxi? I'd love for this sort of relaxed-yet-grown-up boho style to translate down the high street and despite what many people think, I'm still a huge fan of black no matter what the season.

Reem Acra S/S 16

Although this certainly isn't the strongest collection Reem Acra has presented at NYFW, it still has some fantastic red carpet options - three of which I've highlighted below. The blue one to your left has to be seen on Lupita Nyong'o during next year's award ceremony's. Maybe not the Oscars, but certainly the SAGs.

What has been your favourite collection of New York Fashion Week? In terms of wearability, I always say New York is my go-to event for real inspiration for the new season ahead, where as Paris is just a complete dream - especially whenever Elie Saab is involved.
