In terms of decorating my apartment, I've been lucky in the fact that most of my furniture has fit in perfectly. But there was one corner of my living room which just didn't have "it". And by "it" it didn't have the same feel the rest of the room did and that was my little dining space.
I found this gorgeous white mid-century inspired dining table and Eames style chairs on eBay of all places at a company called My Furniture for £300. It's amazing quality and really suits the style of the room. But when I built it there was just something lacking from the space. As you can see from the picture below, the walls are boring magnolia (I rent or else I would have had them painted some Farrow & Ball shade by now).
So on Saturday morning I decided to add a splash of colour, with some help from a website called Unsplash.com. Basically Unsplash is a website I discovered through a friend which has super high res images which you can use totally free of charge for whatever you want. Ten new pictures are uploaded every ten days and there are some absolutely amazing images on there.
As I'm trying to add more blues into my living space to match my sofa, I went for four seaside holiday inspired images. I had them printed out at Staples on A3 glossy which came to £7.20 and then went to The Range and picked up four frames for £20.
I think it looks great and has really opened up the corner more - plus I have a complete wanderlust moment every time I look over to that side of the room now. I also picked up some faux lavender from The Range whilst I was there which brightened up my vignette on my table.
I'd definitely recommend giving Unsplashed.com a look, especially if you're looking for some free wall art. I'd also love to know what you think to my latest DIY and if you'd give this a try yourself. Have a great Monday guys.
